AWeber Review: Create a List and Milk It For All It’s Worth

In the world of online marketing, few principles are heralded as much as the importance of creating a mailing list. And it’s not hard to see why. Having a steady number of interested leads – which is essentially what they are – is obviously beneficial. If you have the e-mails of 10,000 potential customers who are interested in what you have to say, that can be a powerful thing indeed.

Of course, build a list that large – or even up to 100 – is the challenge. Email marketing software like AWeber is aimed at taking all of the technical trouble out of that challenge. Handling autoresponders, new subscriptions, and sending out emails automatically is the name of the game, and if you play your cards right, you can set up a marketing system that generates leads for you even while you sleep. Sounds good to me.

Having the right software means having a service like AWeber, however, and procuring the best email software out there means doing exactly what you’re doing – a bit of research. Luckily, you’ve wound up in the right place. In this AWeber review we’ll take a look at all of the features and benefits that creating an email list has to offer, especially if you’re using the right technology. If it all comes at the right price, you’re in for some fun.

AWeber and Why You Need Email Marketing

Anyone with a blog, a company, heck, anyone interested in making money should put some thought into email marketing. We live in a world of instant communication where it’s easier and easier everyday to reach thousands or even tens of thousands of people with the click of a button.

But it’s not so easy if you have no idea what you’re doing. That’s where AWeber comes in. If you’ve never used email marketing before, AWeber is one of those comprehensive services you can use that will hold your hand and provide you with everything you need.

For example, do you have any idea how you’re going to capture peoples’ emails? AWeber, like many other email marketing packages, can provide you with HTML forms to place on your site that will allow people to signup themselves. Do you know how you’re going to reach all of these different emails? Just go to your AWeber control panel and you can send out one email to everyone at once.

It’s all much simpler than it sounds, partially thanks to the way AWeber structures its website, which you can see below.

AWeber is an excellent, comprehensive service for email marketing campaigns.

All of the different features that go into email marketing really make it much easier to use than you might have anticipated. Even if you’re just starting out with a new website and aren’t sure how to go about creating something like a “mailing list,” a quick try with AWeber will show you that it’s not nearly as intimidating as it has to be.

Many people who are starting out in the world of Internet marketing will use a service like AWeber to ensure that they know what they’re doing. It’s good beginner’s software, a way of getting your foot in the door. But there’s more to the story of AWeber that makes it a quality selection as your email deliverer of choice. And, heck, this wouldn’t be a true AWeber review unless we took a closer look at what makes it unique. Let’s explore the features individually.

Easy to Use Features, Easy on the Wallet

There are some basic features that you’ll want to see in an email marketing program, and AWeber delivers on all of them. Here’s a refresher:

Creating signup forms – You can’t very well create an email list unless you have some place people can sign up for it. AWeber’s signup forms are easy to make and will easily integrate with your preexisting website. If you don’t have a website yet, you need to get on that.

Autoresponding – Autoresponding is one of the greatest inventions of the email marketing program because it allows an interactive experience with your fans without you having to lift a finger. Well, okay, you’ll have to set it up first, but after that you can let the email software handle registrations by itself.

List managing – Want to send out an email to everyone on your list telling you the latest products you’re offering? Want to set up an introductory email that goes out to new users? AWeber makes this easy and even enables HTML emails that allow you to jazz things up.

Analytics – One of the real strengths of AWeber is the strength of its analytics – you know exactly how well your emails perform and how many of your subscribers go on to click through to a link you’ve given them. You can create separate email campaigns to test different marketing approaches and if you’re not doing that, you need to get on that, too. Oh, and you can set up customer segments based on customer behaviors, allowing you to divy up your own email list and better tailor an email campaign to their behaviors.

The Price Plan: Just a Buck?

Signing up for AWeber comes at the interesting price of $1 – a barrier of entry, to be sure, but about as negligible as it gets. Your first month will run you this $1 and then subsequent months change to $19 per month. If you find that you’re able to build up a good quality list after a month of email campaigning, then you’re probably going to want to spring for AWeber’s continued service.

The pricing could be cheaper, considering that $19 is just the low-tier price. The higher your list gets, the more you’ll have to pay. Obviously, you won’t mind paying more as your list improves, but AWeber’s payment system can be a little frustrating. It doesn’t cost them any money for you to have a lot of people on your list, does it? And yet you find yourself paying more. It’s a turnoff that we see too many times in email marketing programs.

If you’re going to be building a list to promote your blog or company, there are worse places to do it at than AWeber. Just remember that after a month, the price goes up. Such is life.

Hey, great article on the AWeber experience.
AWeber is definitely one of the best and most intuitive list building programs out there. Building a list is really important if you want to generate money online so I highly recommend AWeber or a similar program.
I’ve really enjoyed my experience using it so far and I’m going to continue to use it for a long time probably.
Didn’t mention it but they also have good customer support.

AWeber has worked out okay for me over the years but I wanted to share that you need to be careful if you use the AWeber Blog Broadcast feature. If you choose to let it send your emails automatically, it may send multiple emails to your list in some cases, for example if you are tweaking or changing your feed. I found this out yesterday when saw that AWeber had sent 5 emails within 2 minutes to my subscribers.

I am not sure if I am going to continue using AWeber. I just set up a list and it took a ridiculous amount of time to get it formatted and working correctly. The support people were friendly and helped us resolve the issues but it took about 10 email exchanges. I don’t blame the support folks so much as AWeber for the system being so very buggy and difficult to use after all these years. The templates that I see in there are ones that were there when I first signed up 5 or so years ago. More modern styles would be appropriate for a company who cares about growth. The things I’m seeing and reading about with MailChimp are very enticing. If something doesn’t change I will probably not be hanging around too much longer.
